Eugena Maguire
MSW, Registered Social Worker
At the heart of my work is a belief that our emotions, instincts, attachment patterns, and nervous systems hold important information about who we are and why we respond to the world as we do. I believe meaningful change requires both insight and the opportunity to go beyond understanding alone toward genuine healing.
My approach is down-to-earth, conversational, and collaborative, while also deeply focused. Together, we can explore recurring patterns—whether they involve anxiety, people-pleasing, shame, relationship difficulties, trauma responses, addiction, or feeling disconnected from yourself—and work toward meaningful change.
Therapy can be both serious and fun. There is room for humour, honesty, curiosity, and play alongside the difficult work. I aim to meet you where you are and adapt my approach to what you need—sometimes creating a gentle and spacious place to slow down and process, and other times asking challenging questions, taking the lead, or offering a framework that helps something finally make sense.
My work draws from EMDR, parts work, attachment-based developmental theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), grief support, self-compassion, transpersonal psychotherapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and trauma- and nervous-system-informed approaches.
I’m a Registered Social Worker who works primarily with adults, couples, parents and youth. I also offer small group circle processes for conflict resolution and increased communication.
For clients who are spiritually inclined, I welcome exploration of meaning, purpose, consciousness, spirituality, and the bigger questions that arise throughout our lives. I offer shamanic energy medicine sessions integrated with mainstream therapy, bringing in tools from ancient healing arts, animism and archetypes. I have been studying and practicing shamanism for the past 20 years and am a ceremonialist who has officiated earth-based spiritual weddings, and grief and fire ceremonies. As a space holder, I bring a nurturing and clear presence that invites others into deep safety and discovery.
Outside of my work, I enjoy country living, earth-based spirituality and ceremony, writing poetry, theatre, travelling, organizing events, learning, and spending time in nature.
A Note About Scope of Practice
To remain within my scope of practice, I do not diagnose mental health disorders or provide treatment for substantial mental health disorders. I do not work with high-conflict divorce, chronic suicidality, or serious and ongoing self-harm. If any of these are your primary concerns, our office would be happy to provide referral options.
