microneedling
Microneedling uses very fine needles to create tiny, controlled micro-injuries in the skin, encouraging the body’s natural healing response and supporting the production of collagen and elastin. The result is skin that can look smoother, firmer, brighter and more even over time.
At Willow House, microneedling is approached as more than just a cosmetic treatment. We take the time to understand your skin, your goals and what you’re hoping to change, then tailor each treatment accordingly. It can be used to support concerns such as acne scarring, fine lines, uneven texture, pigmentation and overall skin health.
Microneedling for the face and neck uses very fine needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin, encouraging the body's natural repair process and supporting collagen and elastin production. Over time, this can help improve the look and feel of the skin, leaving it smoother, firmer and more even.
This treatment can support:
Firmer, more resilient-looking skin
Softening of fine lines and early signs of aging
Improvement in the appearance of acne scars and other textural scarring
More even skin tone and reduced appearance of pigmentation
Smoother, more refined skin texture
A brighter, healthier-looking complexion
Overall skin renewal and vitality
Some redness, warmth or mild sensitivity is normal after treatment and typically settles within 24 to 48 hours.
Recommended plan: A series of 3 to 6 treatments, generally spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, depending on your skin, concerns and goals.
Face & Neck Microneedling
Microneedling can also be used on the scalp to support healthier hair growth. By creating tiny, controlled micro-channels in the scalp, treatment stimulates the body's natural healing response and creates an environment that may support the health and function of the hair follicles.
Scalp microneedling can support:
Healthier-looking hair and scalp
Hair density and fullness
The appearance of early hair thinning
Circulation and nourishment around the hair follicles
A healthier environment for hair growth
Overall scalp health
Microneedling can be used on its own or incorporated into a broader treatment plan depending on the cause and pattern of hair thinning.
Recommended plan: A series of 6 to 8 treatments, generally spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart, followed by maintenance treatments as needed.
Scalp Microneedling for Hair
Microneedling at Willow House is provided by an acupuncturist, so your treatment also includes body acupuncture. While the microneedling works directly with the skin, we use acupuncture to support your body's constitution and overall health, creating a more holistic approach to skin health. The goal is to support the body from the inside while working with the skin from the outside.
Because the appointment includes acupuncture, a portion of your treatment may be eligible for coverage through your extended health benefits. Coverage varies by insurance plan, so we recommend checking your individual benefits to see what is covered.

Most people describe microneedling as a prickly or scratchy sensation, with some areas feeling more sensitive than others. We can adjust the depth and speed of the treatment based on your skin and your comfort level.
A topical numbing cream is often used to make the treatment more comfortable.
-
Microneedling works by stimulating your skin’s natural repair and collagen-building processes, so results develop gradually rather than appearing overnight. You may notice your skin looking brighter and more refreshed within the first couple of weeks, while improvements in texture, firmness, and overall skin quality continue to develop over the following weeks and months.
For most people, a series of treatments provides the most noticeable results. We’ll recommend a treatment plan based on your skin, your goals, and how your skin responds between sessions.

Immediately after microneedling, your skin will look red and feel warm, tight or slightly sensitive, similar to a mild sunburn. This is a normal part of the skin’s healing response.
Redness generally settles within 48 hours, although some people may experience mild dryness or flaking sometime in the week after. We’ll give you simple aftercare instructions to help support your skin while it heals.
For the first few days, it’s important to be gentle with your skin and avoid things that can cause additional irritation, such as sun exposure. We’ll go over exactly what to use and what to avoid after your treatment.
-
Microneedling isn't appropriate for everyone or every skin concern. Treatment may need to be postponed or avoided if you have an active skin infection, open wounds, significant inflammation or certain active skin conditions such as rosacea.
We'll always assess your skin and health history first to make sure microneedling is an appropriate and safe option for you.

While both treatments use very fine needles, they approach the skin in different ways.
Microneedling is a more intensive treatment that works directly on the skin to stimulate the body's natural repair process. It is especially helpful when the goal is to improve skin texture, soften scarring, reduce the appearance of fine lines and support collagen production.
Cosmetic acupuncture uses individual acupuncture points on the face and body to support the skin while also working with the body as a whole. It can be a beautiful option for supporting facial tension, circulation, skin vitality and overall wellbeing, without the more intensive skin stimulation of microneedling.
Both treatments can be used to support healthy, vibrant skin, but the best choice depends on your skin, your goals and the type of treatment you are looking for.
At Willow House, we also incorporate body acupuncture into our microneedling treatments, allowing us to support your skin from both the outside and within.
